The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him." (1 John 3:1, NIV) In Christ, you are loved. Your identity is a child of God. This Bible verse comes from a chapter that warns against the temptation to stray from God into sin. You can resist sin by remembering that God has the best for His children.
Many understand the term repentance to mean "a turning from sin." Regretting sin and turning from it are related to repentance, but are not the precise meaning of the word. In the Bible, the word repent means "to change one's mind." The Bible also tells us that true repentance will result in a change of actions (Luke 3:8-14; Acts 3:19).
Answer. The Latin verb incarnare meant "to make flesh.". When we say that Jesus Christ is God "Incarnate," we mean that the Son of God took on a fleshly, bodily form ( John 1:14 ). However, when this happened in the womb of Mary, Jesus' earthly mother, He did not stop being deity. When he says, "There's nothing I desire besides you," I think that is the psalmist's way of saying what Paul said in Philippians 3:8: "I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.". Technically, there are other desires. We get hungry. We get thirsty. We have sexual desires. To live for the glory of God, then, is to witness to the glory of Jesus. It means we say, in word and deed, that Jesus is the supreme satisfaction of our souls. Everything that we truly need is found in him. He is enough for us. Saying this, and living this, exalts Jesus as the unique, glorious Savior that he is.
If we're not careful, you and I have a propensity to take a gift that God has given us—a treasured relationship, a favorite hobby, etc.— and try to make it ultimate. By saying Jesus is enough, we're just recognizing that he alone is the prize. He is the gift, but he's also the giver.
